Three Flat Roofs, A Three-Story House,
And No Stairs – We’re Made For This
We Make Challenging Roof
Replacements Look Easy
Rex’s roof had seen better days.
His house is truly unique. It’s a three-story home with three different-level flat roofs – to top it all off, there aren’t any stairs.
That’s right – Rex’s home has NO stairs!
It has ramps leading up to each floor, and the outer walls were built with large metal panels.
It is undoubtedly a sight to see.
A local architect designed it, and it has become known as the Ramp House around the Greater Austin area. While web searches are dominated by airbnb and for sale listings now, it was listed on world-wide architecture websites for a while.
After a couple of decades though, the Ramp House’s roof began to show signs of age and needed to be updated.
That’s where we came in.
At Freetail Roofing, no matter how complex your roof is, we enjoy the challenge, deliver spectacular results, and provide outstanding customer service along the way.

Choosing The RIGHT Contractor
Rex knew his roof replacement was going to be a big job. During his consultation and roof inspection, we discussed the many details that would go into his project.
His roof was at three different heights, the AC unit would need to be moved, and he wanted his rooftop deck rebuilt.
He also had water pooling Issues that needed to be addressed.
And when Rex chose us for his project, we were determined to prove his confidence in us as the right choice.
At Freetail Roofing, our consultations set your roof replacement project up for success.
This is where we learn your goals, expectations, and all the details of what you’re looking for. Then, we turn your vision into a reality.
Trusting Our Process
The Ramp House was indeed going to be a complex project. But as Rex noticed as we worked, we plan your roof replacement down to the letter, and our process ensures fantastic results.
Rex wanted to choose specific materials for parts of his roof and deck, so we worked with him to achieve his desired look.
We also discussed the many things that would have to be pulled out or moved to get to areas we needed to work on.
One of those things we knew from the start was the AC unit installed on one of the rooftops. We coordinated with the HVAC company to ensure everything was moved and reinstalled correctly.
With Freetail Roofing, we plan your roof replacement down to the letter, and our process ensures fantastic results.
Every Detail Accounted For
Flat roofs aren’t exactly the easiest roofs to replace. Like any other roof, they come with complexities and details we have to pay close attention to. However, like with Rex’s roof, pooling water can become a severe problem.
Water had gotten through to the roof’s decking (the layer underneath that supports your roofing materials).
Rot was an increasing concern.
So, some of that layer had to be replaced.
In addition, there were visual details that needed to be handled with care. And we installed a custom tapered foam system to ensure water wouldn’t pool.
We strive to install your roof with precision. At Freetail, we provide exceptional workmanship from start to finish.
We Enjoy The Challenge
As the project concluded, Rex was pleased with the final results.
From the detailed work to re-installing wall features and the rooftop deck, the Ramp House was a challenge.
And we love a challenge!
At Freetail Roofing, we have the meticulous nature needed to handle roof replacements of any size.
Our process keeps your project organized and on track. We’re also very accommodating with your home – like taking our shoes off to not track dirt through the house as we move through it carrying tools up to the roof.
We didn’t mind.
It’s just what we do.
